I had the authoritarian, I know everything and if you try to tell me otherwise you're being "snotty" style boomer parents. They didn't trust me or my brother to fix it and in fact just assumed that we were the ones who fucked it up in the first place. Pretty much up until we turned 18, in fact. It was to the point where I was even updating Windows XP under the cover of night just to keep things up to date and secure. Ok, so ignoring any kind of argument that involves "x is better than y" or "z already did x", here is what made Halo so great and unique for its time:

>Ability to also hook your xbox up to your PC and play people online, if you knew what you were doing

Really, the game just had a wealth of depth if you wanted to get invested into any aspect of it. Single player and multiplayer had layers to them, and were as challenging as you wanted them to be.
Honestly, the multiplayer is brutal and unforgiving and I think that's why people don't enjoy it these days - but it was the peak of the franchise in many ways. The weapons aren't flashy, but 3 shots from the starter pistol and you're dead. Don't know the map? Enjoy your opponents camping the OS, cloak and rockets and getting blown out 50-7 in TDM. The maps are simple, but well designed.

It's just a great game all around, but will never be popular again because the multiplayer skill ceiling is too high for the cronus/xim generation. Kids don't want to grind and learn; they just want to own from game 1 onward.
Think about it this way: in CoD, hackers can always win because aim is the number one factor of skill in CoD. In Halo, map knowledge and knowing spawn times could always net you overshield and rockets. So you can always headshot me? But not if I kill you with rockets or have OS. There were levels beyond just getting a headshot.

Halo has now become a tranny game. You can fight it, you can mock it, but it’s true. If you ever wondered why God views homosexuality as an abomination, then just look at what they do with even a small piece of entertainment.

I played all of these - you literally cannot compare PS1 shooters to Halo. They control like bricks and are ugly as sin. They also have much weaker narratives, if we're strictly talking about single player campaigns.

Timesplitters was fairly decent for its time, and was trying to do some interesting things. Too bad it never caught on - it's not a bad game from a gameplay aspect, but again it barely has a campaign.
I will reiterate this to you: there are other games before and during Halo's time that did some things on par with the game. TS is a good example of having interesting and fun multiplayer on a game unique to consoles. That being said, Halo was the total package. It had everything:
