PoE is easily beatable without item trading, it's actually a problem how easy it is to beat ubers with just regular playing now. PoE1's main issue is stuff like being able to heal your full health bar every single game tic and other extremely meta things 90% of the playerbase don't know about.

This is diablo item structure. PoE doesn't have singular bonus stacking. Instead it has layered offensive and defensive stats that weave together, so you need a whole big soup of things if you want to do big damage like attack speed, crit, +phys, etc. Adding raw 10% damage when you already have 400% damage isn't very enticing.
