I like the Legion because it’s an interesting and more organic bridging of the tribal type societies introduced in Fallout 2 and expanded on in Honest Hearts to a more modern imperial state. It’s more in line with a realistic society you’d expect to see 200 years after the apocalypse. I know people harp on Bethesda for having a retarded sense of time progression in the post war world, but the NCR is the opposite end of that extreme. A socially liberal, highly egalitarian democracy with the same values as the modern west when the game launched makes little sense in a world that is still relatively brutal and undeveloped and has undergone not just the Great War but also further apocalyptic tier scenarios after it with the Master and Super Mutants plus the Enclave. The NCR should have more hardened and socially conservative views than they do; obviously not necessarily as extreme as the Legion with slavery and other things, but having women in frontline combat roles and in significant military roles is a pretty silly idea in the world of Fallout even with the west coast/NV lore.

I love them. The aesthetic is cool, their way of life is suitable cruel for the apocalypse and I could listen to them talk for hours, be it Caesars plans, Vulpes schemes or Lanius threats.
They produced fan favorites (Joshua and Ulysses).

Is evasion a decent stat for non-bloodied builds? I was running a few things that got converted to evasion now.

Criticals look tempting now because if I'm not missing something a lot of the Luck perks seem like they got gutted in usefulness.

Charisma was already my dump stat and it somehow looks even worse now.

Onslaught can be a bit tricky to understand. Basically you have two onslaught oriented builds: Onslaught and Reverse Onslaught. With regular Onslaught, you gain stacks of Onslaught with every hit registered, making automatic/v.fast furious weapons the best for Onslaught. Reverse Onslaught revolves around Master Gunslinger, which changes how Onslaught is gained and spent: instead of gaining Onslaught stacks with every hit and having them decay 1stck/sec, Master Gunslinger makes it so you gain stacks every second and expend ALL stacks per hit. So the idea of a reverse onslaught would be to have a furious weapon with a high level of damage per shot instead of high dps(per second) that you then do gorillions of damage with by shooting at a weak point with all of your Onslaught stacks. London is neat from what little I've played of it. I like the environment detail and design itself. I wish that some of the quests had a big more in the way of options or reaction though. The Prilladog one felt basic and the main quest one with the airplane just has a bunch of generic NPCs sit there and not repopulate the town(?). Also the Puritan trait giving me a -1 permanent debuff on special for accidentally smoking a cigarette is bullshit, going to console command my stats back.

I like the dialogue not being built around four voiced options and the guns looking like actual guns instead of plywood though.

The guns are pretty cool, but I recently discovered how absolutely absurdly overpowered bows are (especially with fire arrows). I use the gauntlet and it works for the most part during your day to day. I kill most stuff in one hit or can use the power attack perk to easily dispatch of a standard enemy. Against a boss or even something tanky like a mirelurk queen though you're gonna want that auto axe

I say if you want to waste time and money on MMOslop just play destiny, the performance, gameplay, and content are all better.

I'm more pissed off with how Bethesda treats the Brotherhood of Steel. The BOS started off as isolationists who wanted to safeguard technology, they had powerful tech but could be defeated with superior numbers (NCR). Then in 3 they stopped being xenophobic towards outsiders and started recruiting them into their ranks removing their only real handicap (low numbers). So there is basically no reason that BOS hasn't just stomped over every other faction in the wasteland besides Bethesda wanting to keep the civilization level low. The show compounds this further by showing that they have a ton of airships so they wouldn't even have transportation issues. The justification given for nuking the NCR is that they got too big and powerful but the BOS is even more OP.

My issue is with the SLM 14 menu. Navigating the camera to the part that i want to change is nearly impossible. I tried tfc before going into SLM but it doesn't work, i can't move the camera. There are several reasons why Fallout is in the state it's in and it's the basic concept of the game: a lawless wasteland for the player to fuck around in.

Fallout 3 should have been a reboot of the timeline. Keep the same factions, brands and iconography of the series but set the clock to 2110 or something. Now it makes sense that nobody is rebuilding society because they are too busy surviving. Have scavengers sifting through ruins, fighting mutants, forming bands of raiders and rediscovering the world , building shanty towns and camps. Because that is every Bethesda Fallout game.

A post-apocalyptic world, after 200 years, should have indoor plumbing, electricity, societies, cities, governments, proper roads for the god damn garbage trucks picking up trash. We should have at least a two way radio so the player doesn't have to personally check in on every quest NPC. We should have a law enforcement and jails. Am i really supposed to believe that people are hauling around hundreds of bottle caps? In an in-game vacuum none of this makes sense. But factor in outside elements everything makes perfect sense.

Proper cities would mean more characters, systems and mechanics and we know the engine can barely handle Fallout as it is. Long distance travel and communication would cut back on the Bethesda loop of "something to explore/loot/kill every 20 seconds" which is, apparently, what people are playing these games for. Don't need to walk there because i can just call the NPC - less emergent gameplay. A functioning society would completely destroy the wild wasteland aspect because there would be more non-hostile NPCs traveling so you can't just shoot anyone you want anymore. All those ruins and abandoned buildings would get demolished or people would have fixed them as living space. There would be cargo trucks on the roads and maybe even public transportation. Much closer to Far Cry than to Mad Max.

So the progress of time is just Fallouts greatest enemy.

The people here have regressed to tribals. They sacrifice their own to the gods, hoping for a better tomorrow. They probably should've sacrificed more to keep me from sacking their village. Maybe the tunnelers were that divine protection. I guess I have my own sort of guardian angel too in the form of my 12.7mm. I stock up on food and medical supplies at the chieftain's longhouse, and find out there's a vault nearby that they stopped trading with recently. The next door I'll be knocking on. An abandoned armory nearby blesses me with the ability to repair the makeshift .50 cal sniper rifle I picked up off a sentry at the prison. I can't aim it very well on my own, but linked to my pip-boy, I'm a V.A.T.S. god of close quarters combat. And just like at the prison, I leave more orphaned children in my wake.

I got lucky with that where I did it correctly by accident the first time I tried it, so every time after where I would fuck up and it'd crash the game I could go back and see what I did originally and fix it.

You know the underarmor the brotherhood wears beneath the power armor, the head part clips through the head of ghouls real badly, and I wanted a ghoul soldier companion who's skin fused to the underarmor when they turned into a ghoul so I had to open the model in blender to fix it. Somehow I did it right on the first go, but next time when I wanted to do it to the mining helmet one of the kids in lamplight wears in fallout 3 so adults can wear it I crashed the game a dozen times before figuring out the fuck I did wrong.

That's actually kind of what happened to me. One of early tries I did actually got into the game without crashing, but the orientation and UV maps were fucked. I don't know if the Blender export settings were wrong, or if I was fucking up something in NifSkope, but I must have gone through 13 heads before it finally took. I think it was a NifSkope problem ultimately. Now the problem is for some reason, it thinks it's a hat and not a mask, meaning I can't wear trooper helmets or Boone's Beret. I don't know why it's complaining, in the GECK I just duplicated a White Glove Society mask because you can wear hats with those. There's weights applied to it so if you do it wrong when you wear it in game it goes all spaghetti. The hats in 3/nv come in different varieties programming wise, the underarmor hood is also connected to the shoulders so it needs weights applied to it so when the head turns the shoulders don't.

The hats that are pure objects that sit on the head are super easy to work with. But hoods and anything that wraps around the neck can easily get fucked up in blender.

Peaceful indeed. The outpost is deserted. 3 graves have been dug outside, 1 of them containing a key to a weapons locker up on the watchtower with some sort of makeshift sniper rifle. Behind the outpost are some surprisingly healthy xander roots and a reloading bench. I break down some 5mm ammunition into 5.56 rounds for my varmint rifle. Nearby on another hill I find the skeletal remains of an NCR trooper clutching a jury-rigged shotgun with exposed 12g shells protruding from it's spine like a ribcage. Might be good against tunnelers. I pick some broc flowers and make my way back to the outpost. It's getting dark. I'll have to risk sleeping here. I read a depressing journal written by a starving NCR soldier as I nod off.

I think they're all plausible except for the Railroad. BOS is obviously something more akin to the US Army Nate would be familiar with, Minutemen have a more colonial American feel to it which would speak to anyone who lived in the heavily America-centric pre-war era, and the Institute has their son which either may cling to in the unfamiliar and hostile post apocalypse. The Railroad is too divorced from the era they both lived in and is lacking the family connection the Institute has.
