Barak's email inbox was quietly posted by Distributed Denial of Secrets, a website widely considered to be a successor to WikiLeaks, on a file-sharing platform for verified journalists and researchers in May 2025. He also criticized CDC recommendations during the COVID-19 pandemic tied to lockdowns and masking policies, and claimed — wrongly — that they “failed to do anything about the disease itself.”

“The people who at CDC who oversaw that process, who put masks on our children, who closed our schools, are the people who will be leaving,” Kennedy said. He later said they deserved to be fired for not doing enough to control chronic disease.

The body of a South Korean man has been discovered in an alleged Cambodian scam compound, wrapped in blankets and plastic bags, his face swollen and bruised, indicating he may have been beaten to death.

Cambodian police said the body was found Thursday in Kampot province, inside a large dumpster alongside another victim. South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed one of the dead as a Korean national surnamed Park.

The ministry said it immediately requested a full investigation from Cambodian authorities and is providing consular support to Park’s family, although officials noted that "confirming further details has been difficult."

The Air Force decided to extend military funeral honors to deceased Senior Airman Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed by a police officer during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

The decision came after Air Force leadership during the Biden administration previously denied the request in February 2021, shortly after Babbitt was killed. The decision also comes on the heels of a wrongful death settlement reached in July, which resulted in the government paying the Babbitt family nearly $5 million.

"On behalf of the Secretary of the Air Force, I write to extend the offer for Military Funeral Honors for SrA Ashli Babbitt," stated an Aug. 15 letter from the undersecretary of the Air Force, sent to Babbitt's husband, Aaron, according to the family's legal representatives. "After reviewing the circumstances of Ashli’s death, and considering the information that has come forward since then, I am persuaded that the previous determination was incorrect."

Babbitt was shot and killed by a U.S. Capitol police officer as she was attempting to forcibly gain access to the Capitol chambers during the events of Jan. 6. The center may soon be completely empty as a judge upheld her decision late Wednesday ordering operations to wind down indefinitely.

Shutting down the facility for the time being would cost the state $15 million to $20 million immediately, and it would cost another $15 million to $20 million to reinstall structures if Florida is allowed to reopen it, according to court filings by the state.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management will lose most of the value of the $218 million it has invested in making the airport suitable for a detention center, a state official said in court papers.

On Sunday, Keilar confronted Gorka after he claimed there was an "ideological connection" between incidents with transgender mass shooters, including the recent tragedy at a Catholic church in Minnesota.

"You know, 96% of attackers, when you're looking at the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center, looking at 172 mass attacks in the U.S. between 2016 and 2020, 96% were non-trans men," Keilar noted. "So I know you're focusing on this shooter being trans. The shooter was trans, and that is certainly of note. But are you missing the bigger picture here when you zero in on that instead of more broadly these school shooters as an epidemic, and you perhaps miss the through line that connects them all?"

Gorka insisted that Keilar should focus on "mass shootings at schools, specifically Christian or Catholic schools."

"So don't conflate different data sets just to make a political point," he remarked. "There was an ideological content to this attack. That's what terrorism is."

New York police on Monday were looking for a man who threw a sex toy during a WNBA game, striking a girl in attendance, officials said.

The NYPD on Friday released a photo and a short video clip of a man wearing a "Beavis and Butt-Head" T-shirt and an Ohio State cap at the New York Liberty-Dallas Wings game last week at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Police said that, during Tuesday's game, "an unidentified individual threw an object which struck a 12-year-old female victim in the right leg."

The search continued Monday, and a Liberty rep said the team is cooperating with police.

"All we can share right now is that there is an ongoing investigation and that we are cooperating with law enforcement," a team spokesperson said.

The incident in Brooklyn was the most recent example of someone throwing sex toys toward WNBA players over the past two weeks.

Aug 31 (Reuters) - A post-war plan for Gaza is circulating within President Donald Trump's administration that would see the U.S. administer the war-torn enclave for at least a decade, the relocation of Gaza's population and its rebuilding as a tourist resort and manufacturing hub, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.

The Washington Post said that according to a 38-page prospectus it had seen, Gaza's 2 million population would at least temporarily leave either through "voluntary" departures to another country or into restricted areas within the territory during reconstruction.

Reuters previously reported there is a proposal to build large-scale camps called "Humanitarian Transit Areas" inside - and possibly outside - Gaza to house the Palestinian population. That plan carried the name of the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or GHF, a controversial U.S.-backed aid group.

Anyone who owns land would be offered a "digital token" in exchange for rights to redevelop their property, the Post reported, adding that each Palestinian who left would be provided with $5,000 in cash and subsidies to cover four years of rent. Miyares alleges that Roanoke College denied the biological female swimmers 'accomodations, advantages, and privileges on the basis of sex, caused the women emotional, physical, and dignitary harms, and violated the Virginia Human Rights Act.'

Roanoke College 'categorically denies the unsubstantiated allegation that its trustees, faculty, staff, coaches, or administration violated the human rights of any students or retaliated against them in any way,' the school said in a statement provided to Daily Mail Sport.

Miyares suggested the biological female swimmers are eligible to seek financial damages. While there is no recorded instance of a school having to pay damages to biological women for competing with trans women, there are multiple lawsuits being litigated across the country over similar situations.

The male-to-female trans swimmer initially joined the team in 2023. However, after biological female swimmers met with the athletic director multiple times to voice complaints and multiple letters to the school's administration were written, the trans athlete in question withdrew from the team.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s social media account mimicking Donald Trump’s all-caps online posts is getting under the skin of prominent conservatives on the right.

The reaction to Newsom’s pitch-perfect parody of Trump — including his wild rants, name-calling, and use of AI-generated images — is shining a light on the absurd behavior of the president of the United States, who has largely gotten a pass from his party for doing the same thing.

“You have to stop it with the Twitter thing,” Fox News host Dana Perino said Monday of the potential 2028 Democratic presidential contender. “If I were his wife, I would say: You are making a fool of yourself, stop it. … He’s got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little more serious.”

“I don’t know what he’s trying to do but it comes across as childish and — you are the governor of the biggest state in the union — what are you doing?” added Fox News host Trace Gallagher.

For years, and often in the middle of the night, Trump has posted screeds against his perceived enemies on his social media website Truth Social, hurling invectives and sharing conspiracies once considered unthinkable for an American president. His critics have repeatedly accused the media of normalizing the bizarre posts and “sanewashing” his language online.

Newsom’s team is trying a different approach — one that’s earned the governor praise from the Democratic base and lots of eyeballs. A federal appeals court has ruled that most of President Donald Trump's tariffs are illegal.

"We affirm the CIT’s holding that the Trafficking and Reciprocal Tariffs imposed by the Challenged Executive Orders exceed the authority delegated to the President by IEEPA’s text," the opinion from the Washington-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit states.

"We also affirm the CIT’s grant of declaratory relief that the orders are invalid as contrary to law."

In a 7-4 vote, the divided court allowed the tariffs to remain in place through Oct. 14 to give the Trump administration a chance to file an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court.

At issue was the legality of Trump’s attempt to use the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) — a 1977 emergency law — to enact the steep import fees and impose additional tariffs on certain trading partners.

Trump used the IEEPA law to enact the tariffs during his April 2 "Liberation Day" event.

On Truth Social, Trump criticized the ruling, saying all tariffs were still in effect.

"Today a Highly Partisan Appeals Court incorrectly said that our Tariffs should be removed, but they know the United States of America will win in the end. If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country," he wrote.
