How does Eve have very limited moves when she has 3 pages of attack moves that each have their own utility. Funny you mention MGR when MGR has extremely limited movesets even for an action game. Eve has lights and heavies each with their own mixups, 4 beta skills with upgrades you get later on NG+, burst skills, 2-3 different counters for both parrying and evading, 4 different contextual defense systems.
For fuck's sake sekiro literally only has the basic light and heavy, a single parry button, and just very niche ninja tools.
Never mind what MGR has.

The only sin I have with SB's combat is the lack of animation cancelling because it forces you to commit to attacks and punishes overly aggressive behavior because some bosses can decide to hyperarmor through your attacks.

Nta but I do. Never once fapped to eve. I just want a cool action game that isnt story heavy and has a hot female protag.
Wish the game had more linear levels and less back tracking though.

Apparently because it seems dodging in this game is actually the game's parrying in terms of tightness. Like you know how in dark souls, parrying needs to happen as you're about to get hit? It's the same here but for dodging. Otherwise, the game has such tight hitboxes that what is probably happening is that Eve is dodging straight into enemy attacks. So basically dodging is useless for melee unless you time it perfectly to activate the iframes.

Technically it is, but it plays like a hybrid of CAG and a soulslike.
My biggest issue is how the player's combat mastery progression is
>if you're a noob, you play it like a souls game
>once you get better it starts playing like a character action game
>however you start playing the game by its rules which is just parrying and perfect dodging and using beta skills when ready, which severely limits player expression
I have seen many people play well, but I have yet to see people play creatively, i.e. using double jumps to avoid hits, memorizing frame data and hitboxes to naturally avoid hits, using all weapons like grenades and your various gun ammo to mix into your melee combos, etc. That sort of thing

That's unironically a good thing. Because on the other hand you have some of the tightest hitboxes in video games that allows you passively dodge hits by simply moving.

You can jump his sword swipes since this game has really tight hitboxes. Also, when he was charging his sword, you're supposed to sprint away. Dodging isn't enough since it covers a really wide area.

Gameplay's great. Amazing hitboxes. Fun parry system. Lots of different ways to fight an enemy with hit combos. Good enemy variety. Amazing.
