Full freaky has the advantage of earning you based points with certain crowds, but colored human has the advantage of being widely appealing without the advantage of appealing to a die-hard niche. Ultimately it comes down to what you want out of the story, if you really want to lean into the aspects which divide them then I would say something less human, but if you're looking to establish a more relatable scenario under unnatural circumstances then more humanoid would be the superior option. Given that we're theoretically talking about the last human alive, I would say that having less human aliens would make for a better forbidden love story as you have an alien falling in love with something exotic and therefore contentious.
