My gayme theory is that FRIEND is the original freedomschizo. It has an amalgamate body because like Noelle says the game didn't know what the fuck it was supposed to hatch into, other than it looking vaguely like a cat.
After Noelle took care of it, it hatched and for some reason it had the freedom to just leave the game by itself. It's Noelle's FRIEND.
Not sure if it's the one fucking around with the shadow crystals though.

Ramb not actually being the secret boss works fine but I'm enjoying all the theoretical boss themes people are making for him

I am sleep deprived and thinking of Friend, and I have come up with the idea that we will need to trap it inside something it cannot escape from to win. A miniature world where it cannot "break the shell" to get free, like a chick unable to escape its egg. It represents absolute freedom, a voyeur who can stalk its playthings and manipulate them for its pleasure, and I think stripping it of its freedom will play into the themes of the game where your characters are struggling against a predefined fate. I think Toby is going to go full Mother 3 and have us unable to beat this thing fairly and instead we'll need to "seal it" like we've sealed every threat so far.

I'm like 99% sure that it's some kind of Schrodinger's Cat/Cheshire Cat hybrid with RNG manipulation powers that Noelle hatched from an egg given to her by the Forgotten Man/Gaster. It fits with how the eggs are simultaneously important and unimportant.

Personally I think it's Kris's devil horns because of the devil horn door and how tied it seems to be to that era of Kris's childhood, plus if they were dropped in the shelter that would explain why you fight it in the virtual shelter and why it's tied to the FRIENDs
It COULD be Ramb since he's kind of fishy but I read it as him wanting to do what's right with Kris not really understanding what they really want or need because he's trapped in the past
