This might hit better if you knew what a Mary Sue was, but yes he's written to either blow smoke up your ass successfully with his sweet talking and submissiveness, or you completely hate his guts because his entire life is a fabrication and not even he knows how to feel about it at the end of the day. The more you actually care about the story, the less likely you are to accept his wishy washy bullshit, so that just means you're not a complete furfag that's blinded by goat lust.

I don't get why people want to write off Ralsei's entire character so hard.
He clearly was imagined entirely to play the role of the Third hero. He had no identity beyond that at the start and has grown to have wants and feelings over the course of the adventure. Him being some Dustner of Asriel would ruin that whole arc cause he'd just have been hiding his real identity the whole time.
Gerson was clearly GERSON, he remembered everything from his original life. If Ralsei was just some dust from Asriel, he'd have to have been lying about his existence and loneliness to an extreme degree. It'd just be flat out bad writing.
