>Look at how TF2 only gives you two guns per class
TF is older than halo, in tf classic you have one primary, one secondary, and one melee, just like tf2. You've got it backwards.

>finding communities to engage with.
You can go to reddit instead of spamming naruto on every board because you're constipated with lore dumps and fan fiction

The "value" is the weight behind your actions, and the inherent worth of every single drop. Everything in PoE has potential for progression, maps can be modified to increase drop chances of certain items, every drop has X percent chance of being something else, every base gear has potential to be something better, every stat roll increases or decreases the worth of an item. You constantly have something to think about. When I play grim dawn the only time I'm actually planning is when I go back to town after soullessly doing a bunch of MMO style quests I don't care about and sorting through my pack to vendor the 99% garbage drops. I don't even have to think about where my talent points are going since most of it is like "drop 20 points into the talent to drop 20 points in the next talent it unlocks". It's all so boring and stupid.

>organic way to learn
The only way to learn counterstrike is to buckle down and study, do targeted practice, and yprac maps. When you learn chess, go, or shogi, it's all studying. There is no competitive game you organically learn. Not even smash. MvC2 already had autochains for normal tards.

Just get a gold skill and win the game. Career mode is not hard. You should priotize leveling support cards for the first 2 years, and use vacations to level stats support cards don't cover. Aim for the appropriate stamina and power benchmarks for your track and position. Then mash speed.
