Unironically the Knight is likely some bizarre amalgamate and not a single individual (maybe Dess was the 'first'?), which would explain why it has so many strange connections to multiple characters. The wait for chapter 5 is going to be worse I just know it.

We really can't tell what the fuck we're actually doing to her until chapter 5 at least. For all we know the [Trance UP] stat is just the ring hurting her slightly and putting her into a masochistic haze, or it's full mind control. We don't fucking know and it's anyone's bet. It's complicated further from the Twisted Sword being a [Trance DOWN], since we have no fucking clue what that actually does either.
