Porn is a very small piece of the breakdown in intimacy. Mass communication technology is the juggernaut. Mass communication allows for the proliferation of porn, yes, but it also allows way too easy access to... communication. It's in the name itself after all. Without boundaries or goals the magnetic pull of information leads to decoupling from the animal origin entirely and becoming beings of pure action, shedding our reactionary origin. Just another "demon" entity for the pile in the multiverse.

Druckmann's idea for tlou was tlou2. He was tard wrangled and shut down so hard by the other Naughty Dog writer (not amy) that tlou2 transformed into tlou. It became an all time classic because of those changes but it made Druckmann unbelievably butthurt.
He leveraged the success of tlou to kick out the guy who successfully turned his shit into gold out of seething jealousy. Then he started making tlou2 he always wanted. In his hubris he believed it would eclipse the first. Literally no one but mentally defective idiots liked tlou2.
Of course that was not a sobering weakeup call for the retard narcissist. He already had the /tv/ contract. This was his chance to get his hands on BOTH tlou and tlou2 without the pesky spectre of the man he ousted.
(Quick intermission: this is not speculation. One of the memes about tlou is how many remasters it got. The real reason is that Druckmann used the remaster to remove the OG writer from the credits next to his name.)
Druckmann shrewdly identified that Ellie was the sticking point for why his Abby vs. Ellie story didn't land with the audience. His hands were already tied with his major story beat decisions like Joel saving Ellie and Joel dying. So he decided to tackle the issue from a purely optics angle. He couldn't undo the audience attachment to Ellie wrought by the events of tlou but he could cast the most hideous creature in the world as Ellie and a conventionally attractive girl as Abby. Even more deviously he could cast an Abby with a passing resemblance to Ellie to trick the audience into associating Abby with their subconscious idea of Ellie.
Bravo Druckmann. Oh how cunning and genius! Except now no one gives a shit about your story because there are now zero likable or interesting characters left. Manipulating the optics on your own creation just further highlighted the issue of a lack of engaging material rather than fixing the focus issue.

This cutoff point seems to keep getting pushed forward as the years go by. As for me, Emerald was the last pokemon game I was able to truly enjoy, and I really tried to get into later entries.

Women can only self insert in games (league of legends study that 97% of women exclusively play women champs). Little kids look up to older kids (Disney channel hello fellow kids effect/that annoying younger sibling of your friend). Pauline being "13" on paper is targeted to appeal to girls aged 5-11. The 5-11 year old boys will have zero problem playing as DK. It's the girls that require a self insert hook. No self insert target no play.
