It's a disease of the soul. Leftists hide their resentment and personal failure behind some moralistic concept of fairness. Inequality is a grueling metric to these "people", because it clearly distinguishes between a winner and loser. It's a reminder to them. This is why they have to attack the very concept of profit as unfair/evil/exploitative/parasitic/rent-seeking/inhuman/fascistic or whatever else. Leftists don't strive for betterment on a personal level (they are consumerist/poor/unemployed/addicts) so if you give them any political power, they will only use it to destroy you.
