Regarding multiple requests, there are makies who like to make prententiouskino and makies who like to make slopkino so being able to ask for multiple things that appeal to both kinds is what I normally do out of courtesy. The requests that were posted for the last exchange could be great or garbage depending on who you ask and multiple options makes it so maybe at least one is appealing for them to do. I do not like the idea of someone joining for fun and then ending up forced to slog through what for them is a bad request, so more requests making that less likely is good in my opinion. Not vibing with one request is maybe understandable, but if they feel that way about two or three or four requests to choose from then that is someone being too fussy when the point is to be brought out of your comfort zone somewhat. I don't care that much for what the hosts do beyond updating their rentry and not ghosting, and if people think a better event can be hosted then they should host the next one. Thinking about it, I'm surprised we haven't had a host ghost or have a complete spergout at some point.
tl;dr I don't care that much about the inclusion or lack of gimmicks, exchanges and theme weeks are fun for me either way
