Not true, as long as these online games, have a end of life plan, they can do literally whatever. The whole point of SKG is to put responsibility back to the game developers to ensure that once it's time to pull the plug, the game is still in a good enough playable state. Luckily none of this is retroactively, so developers have all the time to implement it at the start of the development cycle and think about it once they start on their new games.
