Madoka actually took direct inspiration from the Sailor Moon manga, particularly the Stars arc.
Meanwhile the 90’s anime was more fujo friendly due to being directed by Ikuhara, the inclusion of fujobait was actually one of the things Naoko hated most about the 90’s anime and tried to contract at very turn in her manga, because like most mentally ill hardcore /u/fags she hates men, but especially gay men and their faghag fujo admirers.
