This is not the intended playstyle at all and if you play it like this it explains why you lose so much
Wards mostly to stop storm cards, of course ward followers can be removed but the PP they use to remove it mean they usually can't remove your ward AND play a storm follower so it still protects you even if it gets removed because it means they couldn't play a card that would've hit your face. This is why even Bellringer Angel is enough to prevent a lethal Gundam play.
The bigger wards force the enemy to deal with them but have additional effects on top of their ward, like Maeve bringing back an amulet (usually Unholy Vessel)
Haven isn't top tier but it's not a weak class either, most of its matchups are like 4-6 or 6-4, probably the most balanced class so far
