One thing I have noticed in old photographers is that their staging is really great. It seems like a lost art. How can I up my staging game? Are there any books for it or is it intuitive? There's must be some kind of methods for this shit.

This pinhole camera made by Ilford consists of a couple of plastic sheets and is now 224 Euros. A couple of months ago it cost 80 Euros.

i got a degree of " Photographic Communications" from college.

think the title is self explanatory.

but now, after 4 years if studies in both theory and practice, i don't feel im much better at photography than before... i just learned editing photos and videos and some basic rules.
the internet is full of incredible photos that can be accessed and downloaded for free, and they look super atristic and proffesional that i can't possibly imagine myself reaching such quality in my life...

so did i just waste lots of money and time for a useless degree?

Thinking about printing a landscape and trying to decide between which composition looks better to hang on a wall. I already have a 24"x36" Hong Kong skyline printed and frame on one wall. Planning on probably doing another 24"x36" to make it somewhat symmetric. I could also go smaller as well.

I think we all realize at this point that certain subjects of themes wax and wane out of popularity at a given time. I thought we could discuss what is popular right now to better create content that our audiences want.

For example I feel like the classic bikini girl and glamor shot is very out of trend. As is car photography. Landscapes seem down too however I am noticing a lot of nature subjects increasing, such as good photos of trees.

I also see black and white high contract coming back a bit.

What are your thoughts /p/? Things that seem out of trend to you or on trend. We could get a good list with 20 or so of us working together.

Is Darktable a meme? At least if you're not already a pro at editing. I tried using it again and I'm this close to just buying an Adobe license.
Like yeah sure it seems to have a ton of options but what is the point if there are no good resources for beginners to learn how to do photo editing using (the current version of) Darktable.
And good luck figuring it out yourself(oh you want to correct white balance in your photos? Great, Darktable has a white balance module! Too bad it will throw up an error every time you try to use it because it's a depreciated module and you're supposed to use the color balance module instead, good luck figuring it out)
Feel free to correct me if you know some resource that actually covers the basic for new users, because google sure isn't helping(my personal favorite was one of the top results being a seemingly super useful guide that specifically talked about using text instead of making it a video so it can be easily updated, and then it just ends at the setup part without any further chapters because the author lost interest)

I pre-focused where she would be and used a slow speed of 1/30 and moved the camera horizontally, trying to match her speed without vertical motion, completely handheld.

Give me tips to become a successful and famous street snapper

Inb4 street is not art nor a valid form of photography

I thought it was faulty at first, because when I inserted the film roll into the spool and advanced it, the film did move, but the rewind knob only turned about a third as much as it should have. So I tried rewinding the film back into the cartridge, but it didn’t feel like it was working.

I ended up opening the backplate and I burned about 10 shots in the process and saw that the rewind knob definitely wasn’t working properly. I had to tinker with it a bit until it started working again. Then I reloaded the whole thing again, and now it’s working fine.
My conclusion? I probably loaded it wrong the first time… but who knows.
Anyway, what should I do now since I have my camera? also hi!!! /p/ I posted here a few times before but HI!!!

Why everyone has to be such an specialist in such a relatively easy craft. Yes, photography is easy. Anyone can learn semi-pro level in 6 months or even less.

So I have been shooting an urban landscape project in the suburbs at night and my primary go to has been the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2. It's a great lens and I have been very happy with it's rendering. That being said I have seen some discussions about apo chromatic lenses on this board and how there is more benefits to the image quality coming from them than just reducing chromatic aberration. I have seen a couple people recommend the Voigtlander 35mm F2 apo and was considering renting one for a weekend. Anyone here have any experience with apo chromatic lenses? Is there actually much IQ differences or rendering differences?
