Well, props to you. Even then, "too obvious" is not an argument, Toby's goal is to write a good story, not to subvert our expectations at every turn. Missing family member coming back as some horrible abomination makes for a good story, don't you think? Plus, it raised more questions than it answered.

Those are interesting questions, but everyone is too stuck up on her identity. Same with Ralsei - people are guessing what kind of object he is rather than asking how the fuck is he so familiar with prophecy and how much he actually knows.
