You just described the end game for these things. Autonomous hunter killers that you can just release and they'll fuck up the target on their own.
That's the end stage that's going to completely obsolete human operated hardware.
Machines will eventually reach this point, but the processing power and AI intelligence isn't there quite yet. Give it 5-10 years and we'll see this stuff in real life.

When I was a teenager I got my own laptop and naturally put a bunch of porn and games on it, especially modded Skyrim to have a bunch of sex mods. Eventually I started having an issue where I'd start a game and I'd constantly be fading to black and back, starting at the bridge by Whiterun every time I loaded in, and not able to run more than a few feet before getting zipped back to that spot. It was very strange and I liked Skyrim a lot for the porn so I reluctantly asked my dad to take it to Best Buy to have it fixed by the Geek Squad. They said the hard drive was corrupted and that was it.
