normally jailing people in other countries is a way to punish them by taking away a person's freedom, here prison is just a place to punish people (physically and mentally), akin to torture. I tell people i know that our prison suck ass at changing and rehabilitating prisoners because of how dehumanizing the people there were treated and 9 out of 10 times people look at me like i am crazy for advocating for basic human right since they believe its necessary to treat them as poorly as possible
Also most prisons are old and are really easy to escape. My dad friend was a guard in a temporal detention center said if a prisoner want to escape, said individual can do that with some difficulty, but not hard. But they choose not to escape because IF they got capture again, they will receive the most sadistic treatments ever known to mankind from the sodomites in blue uniforms
