My schizo theory is that it's a way to make sure everything is impermanent, you can't have cultural "anchors" even if they're corporate logos, movie franchises, games or comics.
They've got to destroy and/or take everything from you no matter how inconsequential or small, and of course everything you feel nostalgia for has to be raped to death.

I think that social media algorithms were disaster for internet artists. If I would draw or paint as a hobby (and I actually do paint minis and scale models but don't publish outside my own private site), I wouldn't be visible at social media at all since algorithm have attention span of 2 years old child and will bury you right away. If you want to reach people, you therefore have to publish constantly and this turns your hobby into actual work. These people quit jobs and try to live off their art alone, which in turn puts them at mercy of said algorithm, which promotes certain popular themes so they also have to do social research and audience, which also contains very vocal and very radical minority from far left or right sides and "cancel culture" is very real.
