A remake would be worse than the original. Not just in art direction, rebalances, or any other bullshit, but because now every "Mother Fan" is going to either hop on it and get an inferior experience for their first time, or still not play it and pretend it's a perfect remake anyway.

Either way you can't compare Undertale/Deltarune to Earthbound, they're extremely different experiences despite the obvious inspiration and references. Earthbound is more straightforward than Undertale, and does what it sets out to do great.
