As a fan of all things dragons, I can explain why the bottom looks strange compared to the top: it doesn't fit the established cultural rules of the Spyro games. Spyro and all of the other dragons in the Dragon Realms are nude and follow a conventionally reptilian appearance; it is evident with the folds in the models for the adult dragons that they were primarily made to be quadrupedal before being morphed into a bipedal stance. The remake, however, creates a distinct lineage of quadrupedal, nude dragons (Spyro) and bipedal dragons adorned with clothing. As a consequence, this causes a clash between how dragons look in the Spyro universe: is Spyro some peculiar nudist outlier who crawls on all fours to the majority of bipedal clothed dragons? Were the artist just out of touch furfags? You don't see such a drastic change with the other creatures in the Spyro games, so why only the dragons?
Simply put: the remake dragons look like they belong in a different game, and should not have been used for the remakes.
