1. Same interface for decades, already has 99% of tools you need, with an intuitive UI that any non-tech person can easily master.
2. Autodesk bought it, added extremely well Maya keybinds and yet nobody bothered to check the box.

None of you are going to make it in the 3D industry. The industry doesn’t want you, your “style” is irrelevant, and your “passion” means nothing. Studios are drowning in Chinese portfolios better than yours. AI is already doing your job faster than you. And no, your donut, your anime bust, or your cyberpunk alleyway doesn’t make you special. You’re one of thousands churning out the same crap hoping for validation. Entry level offers are basically nonexistent. They only want seniors with industry experience.

Meanwhile plumbers are raking in more money than any of you will ever touch in 3D. They get paid on the clock, not in “exposure.” They don’t fight for scraps on freelance boards. They don’t watch their skillset become obsolete overnight because Autodesk decided to change their licensing model. A plumber apprentice makes more in a week than you do in a month of Fiverr commissions.

You’re not a future Pixar artist. You’re not a visionary. You’re wasting years staring at a viewport making fake pipes when you could be fixing real ones for real money. In four years, a plumbing apprentice has a house and a stable career. In four years, you’ll still be on /3/, posting “rate my topology” and seething about why no one hires you.

Stop coping. Quit 3D. Pick up a wrench and complete your plumbers apprenticeship.

Diving into 3D work has me aching for an upgrade. /3/
I upgraded to an RX 6650 XT a while ago. It's fine for gaming at 1080p, but once I got into 3DCG work now it's showing it's lackluster performance. Rendering is slow, VRAM is short, and compared to NVIDIA offerings, the AMD cards just don't excel in 3DCG.

I got a 500W PSU and am running Ubuntu, so I'm a bit afraid of changing to NVIDIA drivers. What do I upgrade so I can properly dive into complex animated scenes and shit. Also I got a budget of like $500-600 or so.

Gentlemen, may I propose a shared learning experience?

Here's how it works:
- a subject matter is chosen, and anons participating create each their own rendition of it;
- the exercise is divided in "phases", for each phase we shall set a deadline; once it's reached we move onto the next phase, and so on and so forth;
- this exercise is aimed at giving participants an opportunity to learn about the topic at hand; anons may ask ITT information which may fill their deficiencies, if they're feeling generous others might just give you a hand by providing answers that are focused and concise (cut the fat lads, time is money), THAT IS if they feel they got anything useful to share, if they don't then they shouldn't feel obligated to. Even then, don't count too much on that, some anons may only be in it for the exercise.

With that out of the way, I propose participants create their own bedroom within their 3D program of choice. If you already have something like that please refrain from posting it, this thread is intended for those making one from scratch, alternatively you can make a new one at the same pace as us.
Make it any way you like: inspired by how your bedroom actually looks irl or create the one you'd like to have but can't afford to, or create a sci-fi or fantasy themed one, anything goes.

Current phase is:

Before even building your bedroom in a 3D environment, it is highly advised to conceptualize it first. Plan how large the room should be, from the floor area to the ceiling height, decide on the style you're aiming for, collect the references you need according to the style you've chosen, decide on a color palette if you're feeling extra fancy. As a final step for the conceptualization phase I like to draw a sketch of how I intend for the room to end up looking.
Deadline for Phase 1 is:
>august 11th
I will report back by then myself with a sketch of the room I got planned.

New idea for a 2D cutout 3D renderer. Archived /3/
I had the idea of a 3D renderer that projects a 2D cutout rig into a 3D space, but sort of minimizes the X rotation and keeps everything looking like the 2D drawings, but the lighting and animation is done using a low poly model.

Only that the 3D mesh is used to project the 2D planes vertex to the 3D mesh, but do the foreshortening as X and Y operations, to minimize the rotation distortion that rotating a plane will have.

And use the 3D low poly mesh as normal map information to draw the toon shadows on the 2D sprites.

Maybe have an library of 2D shapes to automatically switch based on angle to the camera.

Can we get some filter analysis? After replaying some old games, including RE5, MGS2/3, NFSMW, etc I found them quite useful to hide the uncanny ambient lighting. Even in GTA SA the orange PS2 tint enables you to see the game as its own pocket universe instead of a game that is trying to emulating reality.

Does Blender 4.5+ have the ability to do this yet?

The image explains it better than a paragraph could.
Where you can have an object in edit mode without curve modifier applied, and be able to see the edited changes on duplicate or instanced object positioned elsewhere under a visible curve modifier.

Something with clones parented to empties maybe?

If not, can Maya do it? I can buy a license for Maya if so. And please no Mava Vs Blender thread, I don't care anymore. Just want to make shit effectively. Will probably end up setting blender's control scheme to Maya and use both for which ever needs either program excels better with.
