Touhou deserves to be forgotten (see post above), Sans was superseded by better characters from the same creator, Shantae franchise had, like, one good game, and only because they completely abandoned the core gameplay mechanics of the series.

I've always just assumed that Kris is a "they" because it emphasizes how Kris isn't the player.
Saying that Kris is non-binary misses the point just as much as calling them Male or Female.
Kris is their own person, and you shouldn't be trying to assign any identity to them.
That would also explain why Toby was so insistent on that during the stream.

Frisk & Chara being non-binary is bullshit, though. That was blatantly just being done for self-insertion, and claiming otherwise really weakens the themes of Undertale.
