You can't do shit with a console aside from playing games.
A PC on the other hand lets you play games while being able to do everything you could do on, well, a PC.
Also with a decent PC you can emulate older consoles, essentially making a PC "multiple" consoles at once. PC also does not have the "paying to use your own internet" tax. PC also has relatively way better performance for most games compared to consoles, as well as the ability to actually adjust graphical settings on your own accord, whereas with consoles you virtually aren't allowed to touch those settings, so if a new game comes out on console and runs at 30fps then you're basically fucked, because you would have often been able to tinker with settings on PC for that same game to get it to run at higher fps.
Yes, the newer console gen has "performance/quality mode" but that only gets you so far and it's not an option for older consoles.
That said a PC can still be quite expensive, and will often have you tinkering to get some things to work properly, whereas consoles are cheaper and most of the time just plug'n play.
