When I first discovered 4chan and /v/, posting about Halo was kinda like posting about Naruto on old /a/. It was shit made for casuals that was killing the genre, and allowing discussion would attract casual newfags here. Biggest complaints were that it was a worse version of everything good about FPSs: limited movement, only 2 weapons at a time, your health regenerates automatically, simplistic level design, repetitive, the game even aims for you since you're using a baby input instead of a proper mouse. Pic related was the general perception, and the kind of people who liked the game was completely different from the kind of audience you'd usually find here on /vr/ now. In fact, the day I saw my first "Halo nostalgia thread" on /v/, entered expecting shitposting, but got a lot of people saying they loved playing it as a kid, that was when I realized I was getting too old for /v/. All the people here feeling nostalgia for it are the then-newfags we failed to gatekeep.
