7 Days in Vietnam /trv/
I'm traveling with some friends, and at the end of it, I'd like to tack on some extra time in Vietnam. What do you think of this itinerary? I don't have a specific budget, and I'm looking to keep a relatively slow, relaxed pace. Not interested in happy endings, but very interested in history, great food, nice scenery, etc.

Feb 8 (Sun): Fly Singapore–Da Nang. Private car to Hoi An. Stay: Four Seasons Nam Hai or Anantara Hoi An. Easy evening, dinner by river.

Feb 9 (Mon): Morning walking tour (Old Town, Japanese Bridge). Cycle to Tra Que village, lunch. tbd. Dinner at Home Hoi An.

Feb 10 (Tue): Early visit My Son Sanctuary. Return, late brunch. Optional lantern or cooking class. Sunset river cruise. Dinner at Nao.

Feb 11 (Wed): Drive Hoi An–Hue via Hai Van Pass (~3h). Stop Lang Co Lagoon. Stay: Azerai La Residence or Pilgrimage Village. Dinner: Les Jardins de La Carambole.

Feb 12 (Thurs): Visit Imperial Citadel, Thien Mu Pagoda, Khai Dinh Mausoleum. Dinner at Ancient Hue Garden Houses.

Feb 13 (Fri): Truc Chi bamboo art workshop. tbd. Dinner at Le Parfum.

Feb 14 (Sat): Fly Hue–Hanoi (1.5h). Stay: Sofitel Metropole or Capella Hanoi. Explore Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake. Dinner at T.U.N.G Dining.

Feb 15 (Sun): Temple of Literature, French Quarter walk, spa. Dinner at Press Club or La Badiane.
Fly out of Hanoi late on Sunday

Sketchiness and Safety /trv/
Discussing travel safety in less-than-pristine places is difficult because the technically correct answer for maximizing safety is always going to be

>just don't travel there

With that being said, we all have our own levels of what we consider acceptable risk tolerance for these sorts of things.

Where is your personal threshold at? What's the sketchiest place you've been, or would consider going to?

What kinds of dangers do you plan for, and what precautions do you take?

I want to visit here. Mainly Kazakhstan, but I'd like to eventually see all of them.
What do I need to know in order to prepare myself? I'm an American who's only traveled in first world, highly English-speaking western countries before.
Are these countries cheap? What are the must see places? Do I need a tour guide? Are the cities as lively as the western world? How strict Muslim are they? Is it possible to pick up chicks here?

US Virgin Islands /trv/
Hey, /trv/.

Would anyone like to share their experiences here? I'm going in late November and am especially excited to explore VI national park on St. John. My question is, how should I handle transportation on the island? Is it best to rent a car? A scooter? Just taxi everywhere? Or use some other form of transportation, like public transit?

I hear the roads are a bit crazy, but I want to explore freely if possible. Also, I'll be alone probably as this is a solo trip.

I'm also happy to take any other tips about the USVI and/or the Dominican Republic, where I'll be staying in Punta Cana for a few days as well. (Am I going to get stabbed?)

Thanks!

Already got Haarlem, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Delft in mind, but are there any other places worth visiting for a day trip? I'm split between staying in The Hague or Rotterdam, idk which one is more interesting desu.

Got 8 nights total!

Anyone ever drive from the north to Florida? Looking to do this route from Toronto to Miami next spring to go to an event.

The last two years I've flown and the flight goes for $3-400CAD and the car rental is about $3-400 CAD for the week. Is it retarded to consider driving down instead? I've driven upto 16 hours in one straight shot before.

Travelling to America with cigarettes /trv/
Alright, so I'll be taking a trip next year from the US to Canada, and I want to bring my cigarettes with me. However the issue is that at the time I'll be 19, which is legal in Canada but not the US.

So what I'm asking is if it's possible and viable to just not tell customs about my cigarettes, put them in some hidden spot in one of my bags, and hope they don't find them?
I'll be traveling with family (not very close family) and really don't want to get in trouble with customs.
Thanks boys!

I won the lottery and I'm going to move countries. /trv/
I recently won the jackpot in my state lottery. Fortunately it's not a dystopian state that forces your name to be public. I've won more money than I could ever dream of, but as a NEET I don't know what to do. As I cannot explain my immediate change in lifestyle, I've decided to assume the façade that I have got a job in another country and need to move within just weeks (my money will clear next week).

So my questions to you anons, are:
- Where should I move to?
Money is not an issue, I will invest it safely in the stock market and live off dividends. I could afford literally anywhere beyond tax havens like Monaco but I have no desire to be there anyway (I'm sure Nice is nicer)

- Do you have any suggestions for my alibi?
I've been a NEETGOD for years now and the massive gap in my CV will turn some heads if they hear I am moving internationally for work.

- Any places I should visit that you recommend in general?

Europe is just an extension of the USA these days.
>Everything is in English
>Everyone speaks English
>Population is globohomo mystery meat
>Cities are dominated by the same USA conglomerates and megacorporations
>US TV shows, movies, music dominates the local culture
>Entire population under 40 has been raised on US internet and US culture
>In many countries the youth use English more than their own language

Why would I want to visit Europe when the entire continent looks identical to Canada where I live? There's barely any difference under the surface between Vancouver, Berlin, London, Helsinki or Warsaw these days.

I wanna take a road trip around New England this October. I'm driving up from the south, with my main destination being Salem MA, and stopping in some other cool attractions in MA and CT along the way. What are some good stops along the way? It'll be October, so I'm particularly looking for spooky, Halloween, or just general Fall themed attractions, but any interesting suggestions are welcome. I'll probably come back during Thanksgiving to see the rest of the region too.

Leaving Greece was like a breakup /trv/
I don't even like travelling. I think it's stressful and I get over-stimulated and anxious and I'm scared there'll be racism or I'll get food poisoning or whatever. I experienced none of this in Greece.

I did, however, see the Parthenon without scaffolding. I cried at the Dionysos theatre. Got lost on my way to the Agora, and then ran excitedly hand in hand with my friend squealing as we neared the Hephaistos Temple.

I travelled with a group of other classics enthusiasts, my Ancient Greek professor being our academic guide. We visited the incredible site of Delphi, and my heart exploded. We saw a giant rainbow at Mycenae. I ran the whole lenght of the stadium at Olympia (and regretted it). Walked the 999 steps up to the fort at Nafplio. Visited the National Museum; how I sobbed while looking at the grave stelae!

Our final day, we visited Cape Sounion and stood at the foot of the hill where the Poseidon Temple was bathing in sunlight, my professor reading out loud a poem by Hjalmar Gullberg - a poem written about that particular temple.

I don't know if I like travelling now, or if I just love Greece. Coming home hit me hard, like an actual heartbreak. I cried for days, feeling a hole in my heart like I was yearning for a lost lover. Idk. Luckily, Greece isn't lost and I'm definitely coming back.

It's so strange, realizing - it's all real. Having studied ancient literature, Ancient Greek, ancient philosophy and art history... And it's all real, not just textbooks and pictures. Idk man, Greece really changed me. My heart is so full.

Homeless people around the world /trv/
I live in Portland Oregon. I recently took a trip to a couple countries in Europe and the homeless situation there is vastly different. I saw one or two “camps” but they were clean and neat and the dudes had a bunch of chairs arranged in a circle where they’d just smoke cigarettes and drink. As opposed to here there are screaming fentanyl psychos who carry around piles of trash. I’m asking, what’s the difference? Why do the homeless over there conduct themselves with more grace? Is it the drugs? Do euros lock them up in asylums or something?

Is there something more scary than nightclub fire? Imagine yourself solo-travelling, just being in wrong place in wrong time, then next minute you are awfully burned laying suffering on the street, dying very painful and very slow death, thousands of kilometers from family or anyone who speaks your language, totally dependent on awful healthcare of shithole country you are in. It's totally random, no fault of your own, it still happens from time to time and hundreds of people can be injured (great pain) in one such fire.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colectiv_nightclub_fire
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croma%C3%B1%C3%B3n_nightclub_fire - almost 1500 innocent people injured and in great suffering...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ko%C4%8Dani_nightclub_fire - 2025, Macedonia is well known cheap solo-traveller destination...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santika_Club_fire - Bangkok NYE nightclub fire - scary especially for me , because i spend last year in BKK 4-floors nightclub with people tightly pressed in corridors - roof exit blocked etc.
How close i was from potential tragedy? How close you were from such tragedy, what do you think?

London /trv/
Going to London end of november for the concert on wembley. Should i book a place at wembley district or somewhere else? Only cool thing i saw in this district is some large hinduist temple that looks pretty dope. Any comfy cheapish place you would recommend to book? How to not get killed in London?
Other than that - are more touristy London places like BigBen, Buckingham Palace, Abbey church worth to see? Because they are expensive , 50pounds per ticket as i see it. Worth it or not?
How the train will be end of november? I am considering taking train London -> Hereford and stop here and there for any places of note, for example this cheaper version of Stonehenge i saw recommended somewhere. I will be in England probably for a week. So should i spend as much as possible in London or train journey to some more rural places, pubs etc also good idea?
Thoughts on this plan?

Hello anons.
I'm flying to Madagascar next week, for a month. Semi-work related, but will mostly backpack around. I'm landing in the capital, will visit Toamasina, Saint Mary's Island, loop around the north and go to Nosy Be.
Anyone been there? What to expect? How to prepare? What to see?
I speak fluent English, Spanish and my native slavic tongue. Will I be able to communicate with expats/some locals?
How dangerous is it in comparison to LatAm?

A bunch of friends have gone and returned with their kidneys intact from Armenia, they say it's pretty good as it is not a "touristy" destination
None have travelled outside Yerevan, however and I'm not able to find any good travel books for Armenia
I'm fluent in English, Russian and German, I assume nobody under 40 knows Russian and nobody over 40 knows English as all Eastern bloc/former soviet shitholes

Anyone been there? How are things outside Yerevan?

What are the implications of human-animal apartheid? /trv/
Did you notice that animals and humans can't be friends, according to PETA? ANother psyop? There can be no circuses with animals (some weren't abusive), there can't be zoos, seaworlds, travelling to Africa is becoming even worse or to Asia to see exotic animals?

I'm so tired of Japan DOOMERS /trv/
I'm planning my next trip to Japan and seeing all the JAPAN IS DESTROYED BY MIGRANTS content is really demoralizing.

I'm starting to believe that those are just washed up english teachers who failed their fucking life and who want to gatekeep Japan only for them.

Scandinavia/Northern Germany /trv/
Spending three weeks in Scandinavia and Germany over the winter (around Jan). Specifically, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Berlin. What do you recommend I do, and how long at each place? Any suggestions?

German here, I am considering moving to Poland. Reasons being:

- I am a software engineering freelancer and getting new projects at previously common hourly rates has become impossible, while the costs of living and risks (of being declared a pseudo freelancer and having to pay up to 50k Euros in taxes for your past projects) only increased. Working from Poland for German companies is still feasible though. Especially considering the lower taxes.
- My current apartment here is only losing value and if I bought one in Poland (I could get much bigger and newer for the same price), it would only increase by 5% every year, according to current projections. I don't need a loan, I could pay all in cash.

What I am unsure about is, where to get best quality of life, which cities I should look more into. Supposedly the best is in Poznan, but that city has no water and middle Poland seems to suffer from high air pollution as they burn so much coal in their county. My favourite would be Danzig. It seems it even has two international private schools there, the ISG and BISG. Although I would have expected it to also have a German one (like Willy Brand school in Warsaw) since the city is originally German.

What do you guys think, am I overlooking something, any advice? I am talking to recruiters about this topic right now and will probably spend next holiday there with my family soon.

Rizzing jappies Archived /trv/
I'm in Japan for another 2 weeks, been here 1 week. I wanna take down a japette while I'm here. I'm tall, muscular, blonde hair/blue eyes. I do catch a few lingering stares from the girls, especially at night when the locals get drunk. My Japanese is sub-conversational but I can say hello and ask for directions type shit. I shot it with a couple girls, but they didn't wanna get dinner. I assume they know I'm fuckin around.
Any tips on where the girls who will fw foreigners hang out? And anyone with experience have date ideas? I'm in Osaka now, heading to the kyushu region in a few days. But I have a JR pass and I can kinda go wherever if I have the time.

What is the best way to get cell phone service without getting jewed? The kikes with my carrier charge $15/day for an international pass which works out to $450/mo. Any cheaper options?
