Yes, the amount of players causes a performance hit, but the code still works no matter how many players have connected, and the amount of players asking for an update is what strains the server the most, HOWEVER a portal simply just recalculating bullets and players on the server end while allowing the local player to render and rubber and on their own machine? That won't effect shit on the network response time.
