I havent been playing much of my warlock in pvp lately, pretty much exactly because of what you describe. It can be a bitch to play but when you make it work its fantastic, statistically warlocks have a steeper learning curve to climb in rating. This is mostly because as you experienced, you will be utterly useless against some lobbies until you learn how to deal with it better, and everyone blinks, zooms and jumps around like a giant clownshow while you have a teleport circle that has to be placed beforehand thats not even on a short cd or anything.
If you like the class, keep at it. A good warlock is a fucking menace to society with absurd damage and cc potential but fuck if I know how to do it.
