/tpg/ /rcg/ - Theme Park & Roller Coaster General
Another One edition

>Last Thread: >>2814840

>What is this thread? Why are there two companies?
Disney parks were initially founded as a way to celebrate the culture and history of America and provide middle class families with a fun-filled immersive experience. While theme parks are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other roller coasters & rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /rcg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney and Universal are currently competing for the Orlando theme park market and beyond! Universal is opening new resorts all around the US and new continents!

That is strange. I know Universal built the prototype for MIB in one of the sound stages for all the testing. It was a little track on the ground with one of the ride vehicles circling it. That's the only other example I can think of.

Universal used a dune buggy hooked up to a cable and pulley system on an incline to see how fast they'd need to go for the real thing to achieve the desired forces, but that wasn't done on park property

Hows England? The people, public transit, food, price, attitude towards tourists, sights to see.

I have a rather odd vacation planned next year, its going to be almost entirely miniature wargame oriented and will center mostly around Nottingham so I can attend Britcon and visit the GW HQ and other of the wargame companies centered in Nottingham. I'll be in the country for 3 weeks so it'll be plenty of time to check out the rest of England and some historical sites. I was warned to avoid London but that seems like such a waste going to England and going everywhere but the capital

Bangkok ranks "Best City for Gen Z"
But /trv/ told me only old fat boomers go to Thailand...

>The Thai capital secured the top spot ahead of Melbourne, Cape Town, and New York City. Survey results indicated that 84 percent of Gen Z respondents in Bangkok reported being happy with their daily lives, while 71 percent said the city is affordable compared to other major metropolises.

>Bangkok was also voted as the easiest city in the world to make new friends, giving it a strong social edge that appealed to younger generations. This sense of connection, paired with affordability and livability, helped promote the city to the top of the global ranking.

Huh.

Astrocartography
This thread is for the discussion of astrocartography. The idea behind astrocartography is that you can change your karma / fate / personality by moving to different areas around the world. If you generate a natal chart at the exact time you were born, as if you were born in a different city, this is a relocational chart that shows the different energies you would be subject to if you lived in that city.

Moving North/South doesn't do much to change the energies, but moving 30 degrees East / West will shift the ascendant of your natal chart East / West by 30 degrees, causing planets to act in different houses.

For example if you have Saturn ascendant where you are born, you will probably hate living there, and hate traveling anywhere north or south of that line.

Using astrocartography you can calculate the cities in the world that are most fortunate for romance, career, finances, family, spiritual life, and so on.

Remote Activation is the concept that having relationships with immigrants from your luck cities will activate the same energies as living there yourself. For example New York city might be your luckiest romantic city in the world, but dating a woman who was born in New York will activate the same energies.

So if you hate the location you were born, don't be surprised if you feel the same energies when traveling north or south of that location.

Normies are just people who have auspicious social energies in the place they were born. But if they move 500+ km east or west, they are likely to get bad luck in some area of life.

You cant escape Saturn, but you can make him act on another area of your life. And you can augment the power of the benefics.

If you are too lazy to calculate your charts, just realize that there is probably an astrological reason why you love some areas of the world and hate others, and are drawn to some places.

Autumn has the best weather and less pollution (but watch out for bad days), also it doesn't rain

Real Traveler's map™ thread, sponsored by SPLORED.COM©
Post your travel maps in this thread. Pic related is the official /trv/ Real Traveler's map™, edition 4.0.5

Fill in the countries and subdivisions you have visited, talk about your map and ask others about their maps. You can use the map however you like, the colors are more like suggestions, you don't have to use them, and you don't have to use all of them. You can add or remove colors and change the map as much as you want in any way you want. Don't like this map? Upload a completely different one. Up to you. Despite what some might say, there's no "wrong" way to use the map, and new posters and less travelled people are welcome and encouraged to stay and post :) This map is a group effort by our board, and we can only improve it if people reach out to share suggestions or corrections.

This is the newest edition of the map, edition 4.0.5, updated for September 2025. Thanks to an Anon in the previous thread, it is now easier than ever to fill in the map. You can use the website splored.com to easily color in entire countries with a single click. At the time of making this thread, it uses the old 4.0.4 template, so you still need to update it to 4.0.5 with the simplified template, but hopefully Anon will update the website after I make this thread.

Topic for this thread: Should we have a Real Traveler's Discord? Just something I've been thinking about. I don't use Discord myself, so it's not important to me, but it could be nice to have a hangout for the regulars or a "backup" in case 4chan goes down again or somewhere to share subdivision news if there's no thread up. Just interested in hearing your opinions on this.

You can try running an AirBNB in a vacation area, while keeping a room for yourself.
That way you should get enough income to keep yourself going, and you wont get totally bored with decades of staring at a TV.

Are you giving up a career to do this, or can you easily get a new job in a few years?...

Spicy food is a sign of low culture
Nations that limit spicy food:
Sweden
Japan
Switzerland
USA
Norway
France
Italy

Civilized nations do not need to saturate food with spices because the ingredients are already high quality and flavorful.

Italian Travel
Spending a week a friend's house in Venetto Italy. Went to Venice, Bologna, Rovigo, Verona, Revana, Forli.
Pros:
- Not insanely hot
- Amazing Food
- Beer is not as bad as I thought it woul be.
- Everyone looks good, the wops are actually white.
- Surprisingly affordable if you aren't dumb.
- People are ridiculously friendly, not used to this since I grew up with southerners and they're absolute scum.
- Verona is the most beautiful city I've ever seen.
- Trains are decent.

Cons:
- Niggers
- Jeets
- Abduls
- High Taxes if one were to live here.

Is it worth going to Florence tomorrow? Is it worth moving to Verona? For context, I am white with blue eyes.

What is the worst airline you've ever flown on?
My nomination is Avianca. I had a three-leg flight. They let me board the first leg without any problem. On the second, they refused to let me board the aircraft (because they claimed I needed an onward ticket, even though the rules said I didn't, and even though they'd let me on the first leg without one), refused to give me any assistance in buying a second ticket so I could make it to my vacation, ignored my requests for assistance and my asking them to sell me a ticket at the fucking counter, and then when I finally managed to appease the bitch who was blocking me and be allowed on board at the very last moment, they then continued to treat me rudely the entire flight, and the third leg of the trip (different aircraft and different crew) were just as obnoxious the whole time. As far as I can tell, they just wanted to fuck over an American tourist.

Just to add to the fun, at the stopover in Colombia, the Customs idiots kept trying to mix my belongings in with other passengers' belongings during a completely pointless X-ray check. Like, I've got all my stuff in a bin (there wasn't much), and the Customs idiot grabs my passport and wallet and puts it in a different tray behind mine, then grabs some of that passenger's stuff and puts it in mine. I attempted to correct it pre-X-ray-machine and he got pissed and undid it. The other passenger had to search yet another bin that he'd moved even more of her stuff into. No reason whatsoever for any of this, shady as fuck, it was almost as if he was trying to set us up for something scammy.

Never flying Avianca ever again, and fuck transiting or visiting Colombia.

Am I doing something wrong or is this how you do it? And is there anything you'd particularly recommend, apart from the obvious destinations?

Is it normal to talk to no one as a solo male (an ugly one) traveller?

Is there anything really worthwhile to eat in terms of food while I'm here or do they have the same stuff in any international city? I don't want to pay 70 Euros for two slices of meat and get looked down upon by a waiter for not speaking French.

I do a lot of walking, but mainly around the centre of Paris. From a box ticking perspective, I am seeing lots of touristy shit. But from a "self enlightenment, eat pray love, I really found myself and connected and so on", there is nothing. But I'm an ugly beta male in my home country, so it's not like anything is different there.

Paris is nice, though. It definitely has not fallen.

Good cities/countries to visit for a lonely man in his 20's
I'm burnt out of American culture. Everything here is too hollow and materialistic. I'm not asking about sex tourism, getting laid isn't my priority. I just need a break from this overly materialistic culture and would like to spend a few months in another country and possibly meet a good woman to start a meaningful relationship with. I'm a 5 10 white guy in his late 20's, though I look quite young. I'm on the skinny side and college students often think I'm their age. Not interested in red light districts or prostitutes or promiscuous women of any kind. I don't mind a traditional or more conservative woman, even if it means we take things slow, and in fact I'd prefer that, though typically those types of women tend to prefer men from their country and culture. I'd just like to know if anyone knows of anywhere with a more approachable dating culture, because here in the US hookups are available but meaningful relationships are not. Any help is appreciated, thank you

What is it with midwits not being able to tell the difference between "is" and "will be"? The recent immigration agreement with India is the beginning. People are opposing it because they are able to make projections for what this will mean in the future. The...

How to defend yourself from kidnappers in Mindanao Philippines while travelling?
Muslims beheaded Canadian mining company consultants in Mindanao who were helping torture and kill indigenous Lumads.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ridsdel

>At the time of the kidnapping, he was retired. Prior to that he had been working for the mining company TVI Resource Development Philippines Inc.,[3] a subsidiary of Canada's TVI Pacific, where he was also a consultant.

>Ridsdel was kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf militants in the Philippines on 21 September 2015, in a raid on Holiday Ocean View Samal Resort, on Samal Island in the southern Philippines.[4] After the gunmen disarmed the resort's security guards, they abducted four people from the resort, the Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, the resort's Norwegian marina manager Kjartan Sekkingstad, and a Filipino woman, Teresita Flor.[5]

>The kidnappers later issued demands for a hefty ransom to be paid for the release of the hostages, reportedly 300 million pesos (around $6.5 million) for each of the three foreigners seized. As the deadline lapsed on 25 April 2016, they apparently beheaded Ridsdel.[6] Ridsdel's head was found in a plastic bag in Jolo.[7] A headless body, possibly Ridsdel's, was later found by villagers by a creek bed near Talipao. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police launched an international murder investigation.[8]

The company he worked for was involved in torturing and killing indigenous Lumad people (Lumads are not Muslim btw)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVI_Pacific

>In 2015 TVI was mentioned along with several other mining companies as being the likely beneficiary of a series of government-funded murders of the indigenous Lumads who live in the Mindanao region of the Philippines, an area rich in mineral resources to which these companies would like better access.[3]

That's why it's not fine. If a 32yo has to pay $8 a night for a hostel at that age. Lock in. No time for vacations yet.

Plan out things you want to see and do in each city, and create a travel schedule, and research transportation to each city.
Lots of cool cultural, religious, food and nightlife things in each city.
You don't really have to prepare, as its easy to figure everything out with google maps an...

I honestly, unironically cannot understand the universal obsession with Japan. Is it just some anime-induced delusion? I gave it several tries and it is unquestionably the most overrated travel destination in the world.

If I were to sum up Japan in one word, it would be "superficial". It all looks nice but if you look under the facade just a little bit then it's all fucking shit. The fake pleasantries are one example of this but there's tons of others: the culture of cute/cosy cafes and restaurants dotted around Japanese cities that actually all sell the exact same sub-par and boring products; the food culture of making it look extra nice and colorful but then it's actually just some bland and completely uninspired flavor plus a random selection of pickled vegetables whose compatibility with the other food is severely questionable; the overall autistic retardation of the people that sucks the fun out of any event, izakaya, or club and makes even nightlife seem like a chore.

Honestly, choose any random destination in Asia and I guarantee that you will have more fun, eat more interesting food, and enjoy yourself more than in Japan.

I guess I could understand wanting to go to Japan specifically if you want to see their temples and shrines, but then even that I enjoyed equally if not more in, say, China or Thailand.

Japan is a fucking meme.

I live in Japan and have spent half my life here. It's nice for living. For vacations? I'd pick pretty much any country in Asia (besides South Korea and Singapore) instead. They're much more interesting. And barring The Philippines and a few other dumps, they're pretty much all about as sa...

it's cute, but having to pay them ruins the experience, because then it just feels fake. you know they don't really walk around in their costumes and their baby llamas except to pose for a gringo

Don't ruin it for me :(
I have to imagine that it's only a performance for those in urban areas, and an authentic scene for the less trodden regions
