Why impersonate Dess specifically? Are they trying to frame Carol? That doesn't make sense, since Carol is clearly in on it.
Are they really impersonating anyone and trying to mislead people? The only dead giveaway that it's Dess is that the Black Knife is a baseball bat when she summons it. Since the Heroes either already know who The Knight is or have no clue as to the significance of this, if The Knight is putting on a show to mislead anyone it would have to be the player. Either The Knight somehow knows The Player is watching and wants to mislead us specifically about Dess, or Toby Fox is a hack.
And who would they be hiding their identity from? Again, the only people who know about The Knight are the Heroes, and when The Knight has acted they've done it in secrecy. Undyne and possibly Alvin have just disappeared with no witnesses. So who is the disguise for?
