It depends if it's made by a different staff. I really like the characters and the setting, the studio should have just done that and handed it to someone else or alternatively not let Anno spend over half the series on his fanfiction. I know officially he was only involved in 2 & 8 but the tone of the later episodes is so similar that I can't believe he had nothing to do with it.
I doubt at least Tsurumaki would want to do it anyway, this is the longest series he's ever done, maybe the ending was his way of telling everyone to fuck off.
The fun parts were Machu running around smashing everything and Nyaan accidently blowing people's heads off, they should make a spinoff about that.
