The entire game was designed to be obnoxious. The flanderization of the souls games needs to be studied, they were intentionally difficult to make for an uphill battle, but now they're just annoying to playthrough because the bosses slide around attacking like anime protagonists who unlocked their final form for the series finale.

So, is it over for Kojima? The game's barely discussed save for its controversial elements despite being out for less than a week. To me, it seems like the only scenario in which DS2 wins GOTY is everyone taking pity on Kojima, remembering how upset he was when the prequel didn't make it.
However, Konami has two rather anticipated releases this year, one of which is a remake of one of Kojima's most famous games. Konami's been shat on long enough, so everyone will probably be rooting for its engoodening. Its downfall began when Kojima got fired, meaning that if DS2 wins GOTY it'll be like signalling Konami that nobody's forgotten one of its biggest fuck ups, undermining its redemption arc.
Finally, whe have E33, which came out of nowhere and is universally acclaimed. Giving this game GOTY would mean that no one is picking sides between Kojima and Konami, on top of it being a good title that doesn't sacrifice good gameplay in flavor of being a cinematic experience. This would also pave a road for more JRPGs made outside Japan as dumb as it sounds. I suppose it's the most probable winner.
