The reality is most toreinas are like you: more middle of the road players who play at their own pace. That is okay! You dont need to sweat your ass off to enjoy the game. It can be enjoyed on a hyper casual level, a hyper competitive level, or somewhere in between, as far or as little as you want to take it. It is a well designed game, and casual players aren't really punished for not chasing the rat race, getting similar rewards even for simply participating in events.
