While I am a bit sad about his murder, I didn't follow him particularly closely so it's a bit unrelatable to me. I'm actually much more saddened by a lot of the reactions of my fellow Americans taking glee in his murder. For one, it shows how far we've strayed from basic Christian values like "thou shalt not murder" and "love thy enemy."
John Adams remarked that "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
His murder, but especially the reaction to it has me really mulling that over. What percentage of the population can fail to live up to that standard before it all comes crashing down?
