The guy wrote it because his marriage was failing and he couldn't stop cheating on his wife and he was dealing with cholecystitis and massive amounts of stress and that's before joining WWII.

He wrote a children's book to calm down and figure out his issues with relating to other adults, and would also read and write while flying a plane. He was escaping on levels not yet previously seen in escapism, and then he died making it tragic and mysterious too.

The guilds were so good.
Even Morrowind guilds were a whole lot of completely unrelated quests and mostly just murdering random people just because (funny enough the assassins guild is pretty chill and the guy running it just wants to retire and go on vacation) and then maybe the last two quests have anything to do with the guild or greater story.

The assassins in Oblivion though? Hoo boy is that more interesting than the entire main story with Martin and Dagon.

In Chrono Cross the Knight is Dario, a knight with a tragic backstory possessed by a cursed weapon who is an optional boss fought to acquire the best weapon in the game.

He's a real bitch of a fight too unless you cheese the combat with specific items of strategy.
As for who the Knight in Deltarune is it barely matters ultimately, so long as it's tragic and we get a sweet weapon upgrade out of it.
