Both characters got the same reworked block, counter and dodge mechanics, both have the grapple and they both can do the things you could do in other NG games, the control scheme will be near identical, the only difference is Yakumo has his bludbind meter whereas Ryu has ki. It's all about the karma score when it comes to ranking and items don't have any negative influence on it. On the contrary you could use spirits of the devil to refill your ninpo before finishing the mission and it would net you some extra karma at the end chapter screen.
