A year ago in Japan, but in Austria a few months earlier I fell in love with the girl checking the tickets on my way to Salzburg.
She was a blonde, chest-length haired, blue eyed, busty girl around my age (30), really sweet and bubbly, who entertained my stupid German and was open to talk more even tho she was on the job. But she seemed a bit shy.
Then as we got off the train in Salzburg and I was stading in the platform in awe at the giant snow covered mountain just in front of the station I saw her coming off the train.
I decided I'd ask her some bullshit question just as an excuse to get her to go on a date with me. But then I saw why she was so insecure and evasive back then. She had severe strabismus on her right eye and it made her avoid my gaze.
I was put back a bit by this initially but almost immediately thought it was endearing, in her. She got very self-conscious as she was responding to my inane question on how I could get to hike that mountain or something of the sort and she excused herself, noticeably nervous.
I just stood there smiling as she walked away to an office on the platofrm, but I wish I could have at least take her out for coffee.
