Hago esto con fin de difundir una situación tan estúpida como afectante para los niños de esta familia, brindándoles informacion e datos de estas personas. Bonita tarde

New to the world of DIY. I'm giving a new life to my old furniture. I sanded, stained and now varnished it but the varnish have small bumps in it (might be air bubbles) which gives it a rugged texture... idk what's causing that and how to fix it. This is my first coat so I can fix it with another one maybe but I don't want to make the same mistake twice. I've sanded this thing for days and don't want to start over.

In april 1884, British engineer James Thomson coined the word "Torque" from latin "Torquis" Archived /diy/
IMO one of the coolest words in the English language. I'm not using a dynamometric key, Im using a TORQUE wrench. I don't even think French Canadians would understand the word "dynamométrique" but surely they understand torque.

All you need is to go up to a fellow man and utter the sound "Torque" and his brain will light up like a chrismas tree, and conversation subjects will flow.

Can someone give me some reasonable fix for this old piece of shit toilet that some retarded plumber fit a tiny jagged PVC flush pipe between.

The connecting pipe doesn't remotely occlude the outlet and water pours everywhere when flushing. I thought there would be some standard rubber seal but can't seem to find any.

Home design and layout Archived /diy/
I plan on building an offgrid cabin and want to layout my design in 2 ways:

1 for floorplan so I can work out how much space I really need to be comfy in each room.

2 for visualizing the exterior. It doesnt have to be perfect but sort of like sketchups you see people do for their /diy/ projects on youtube. I want to play around with sidings and colors to hopefully refine things to a good place before I start.

Whats some good software to accomplish both of those goals?

ITT: Share your home media setups. Because fuck all these subscription services.

I'm using picrel on an old CRT I have in my house to capture that 90's era programming. I've got a Pi5 with a 2TB NVME connected to it, running 4 channels at the moment. The whole setup was about $250, if memory serves. The case in picrel fits the Pi perfectly, and then I run an HDMI to Coax adapter out to my CRT. My kids love it, we call it the "time machine" in our house. Source for the project is all here:

https://github.com/shane-mason/FieldStation42

I'm trying to set up a movie channel, and I want to add more 4:3 movies to the lineup. I've spent the last 3 days drudging through the Internet Archive for halfway decent VHS rips of movies and found a few. Does anyone have any recommendations for good sources of 4:3 movies?

Here's a few of the shows my kids love:

First time home owner here. The drain valve on my hot water heater is leaking. Water is coming directly from the opening, not the surrounding threads or anything like that. I googled it and it looks like an easy fix, but wife (her dad was a tradie) says that something like this should be done by a pro because it involves pressure and if fucked up or not done properly can make the appliance nearly unusable until a pro looks at it. Temp and pressure is absolutely fine right now. I've put a garden hose cap on it to stop the leak while I figure out my next move. YouTube vids make it look stupid easy and it would take like 20 minutes and cost $20.
What am I missing here? Zero experience with plumbing outside of unclogging s toilet or replacing a p trap, faucet, or shower head. Ive
Pls no bully, I'm dumb when it comes to this stuff.

Xbox 360 RROD 0110, need help Archived /diy/
Hey anons, I opened up my old fat 360 to replace the thermal paste and now I’m getting 3 red rings with error code 0110.
From what I found online, it’s usually GPU or RAM around the GPU. I circled some empty spots on the board in the pic, but people told me that’s normal for this revision.

Question is: how do I save this thing at home? Is a heatgun reflow actually worth trying, or is it just a temporary bandaid and a full reball is the only real fix?

Anyone here had success reviving an 0110 without professional BGA equipment?

tl;dr: how do I resurrect my fatbox, don’t wanna bury it just because of a few cracked solder joints.

Wall mount without a wall Archived /diy/
I have a monitor mount like picture related which is meant to bolt to a wall stud.
I'd like to attach a 2 by at the base of a desk sticking up and not have the top attached to anything. And attach the mount to that. It's a multi monitor mount that can extend, needs to hold 2 x 12 lbs plus it's own weight, say 40 lbs total. Plus when fully extended it's putting even more torsion, but I'm not sure how much.
Can I just put a right angle bracket on each side to attach it to the base? Maybe a big bolt straight up the middle? Should I reinforce it in 2 dimensions? In 3 dimensions?
Is this a dumb idea that I shouldn't attempt?

Can we talk about professional construction here? Okay great. I am a concrete truck driver. It's pretty good money but with somewhat inconsistent hours (it doesn't get cold very much here but we just hired a bunch of new drivers and haven't sold the workload fully yet plus we get assfucked by rain). I basically know how to batch concrete and today I ran the plant by myself, I've opened it up about a dozen times over the past year and loaded the first handful of trucks.

Is it worth it to switch from truck driving to batching full time? It will probably fluff up my resume (management etc) but there it's also gonna be fucking boring and I'm gonna have to deal with people relatively constantly as opposed to just driving around listening to podcasts by myself. Does anyone know if being a batch plant manager is even something that matters if I decide to look for jobs elsewhere, or am I just going to be working in concrete and wrestling a different head of the same beast?

Apologies for wasting a thread on this, but I didn't see a general for furniture or stupid questions

My desk is L shaped, where each side is a seperate piece from the corner connector, and as such there's a slight 2mm height gap where they meet. That is, sadly, also precisely where I put my mouse and hand to control it, leading to any mousepads placed there feeling uneven

Is there anything I can buy (or make, despite having zero expierence with this kind of stuff and not owning power, woodworking tools, a 3d printer, or anything like that) and then cut to fit if necessary like a foam mat or plastic sheet or something, that tapers from being 2mm tall to 0mm or .5mm or something, to just even out the transition a bit, like in the OP pic here?

My coat hanger was affixed to a wall via a wall-plug, however I drilled in at the mortar. After some years the plug fell out due to too much weight being put on the hanger. I'm wondering what the best way to go about this is.

My father recommended that I buffer the hole with some material like a napkin so that the wall-plug can stick in again, however this seems like a short-term solution. It would mean I can avoid going to the store for material, so I'm here to as a question:

1) should I drill a bigger hole and get a bigger wall-plug to go with it?
2) is there some material I can use to patch up the hole and then drill in again?
3) Is my father's solution (buffering for the wall-plug with a napkin or something) really a good idea? It would save me a trip to the store

Thank you in advance

I'd love to work in a trade and learn how to do something real and not sit in some office all day like a faggot, but I have OCD and I'm worried about how toxic or dirty the work is. Am I just overreacting? Welders have to deal with fumes for example. That can't be healthy to breathe. Electricians have to go into dirty attics. Plumbers have to literally deal with peoples shit all day. Construction sites in general seem really hellish and not healthy.

Sorry if this isn't on-topic enough for this board janny, but i'm assuming a lot of people in trades lurk here.

The weather stripping on this window in my new house seems fucked Archived /diy/
Requesting help:

I moved into a new house recently, and the window in my bedroom has this weather stripping randomly hanging off of it. It seems to have been glued in place and then duct taped in place, probably by the previous owner.

I have no idea who did it, why they did it, if I should just rip it off, or if I ought to replace it myself, but it seems like incompetent handywork which is present all over the house.

Any help will be strongly appreciated :)

Orbital sanders Archived /diy/
>I've made a table and kinda fucked up the finish. It's built into a nook and in active use, so I'm trying to fix it without completely nuking the place.
>Tried doing it by hand, but the stuff clogs up a p120 paper within seconds.
>Thinking of buying an orbital sander and blow a pack of p120 and a pack of p240 on this to fix it, but I have no experience with sanding power tools.
What to watch out for, what are the general guidelines when buying/using this stuff?

Ignoring these specific products/Harbor Freight (just a convenient spot to grab an illustration), are there any reasons to go with one of these style grip/trigger nozzles over another?

How do i attach this fucking thing to this fucking thing?

Sorry. Frustrated. I got an air compressor. I want to use it to check for leaks inside of a sealed vessel. I got a nylon tube that will fit inside of the air compressor thingy but it triggers the air by being fully seated down inside and the pressure keeps pushing it out from being fully seated.

How do you people who actually know what you're doing do this?
