So why do people on 4chan say to just use the regular speed of sound algorithim?

Some users on 4chan suggest using the regular speed of sound algorithm for simplicity or meme purposes, but it's not scientifically accurate for modeling nuclear shockwaves.

Design flaw?
Why did they make the sleeve the "bullet" of the mechanism? It seems counterintuitive.

The sleeve does not have a solid base, so it's less efficient to be pushed against by the explosive vs the solid rod component, it weighed more meaning more explosive force was required to accelerate it, it requires a heavier and larger diameter tube(barrel) for the same firing performance, it requires the target end to be aligned more meticulous, a potential failure point in the case of internal damage, whereas having the cylinder be the target could be better supported and stay concentric, the larger mass also makes it more likely to fizzle or predetonate as for the same size of all other components it should be easier to send the rod faster to get it closer before criticality.

I know that implosion has its advantages but it seems like even a first time around for the gun type they could've done better.

There's actually a very simple, if slightly counterintuitive reason behind it. It has to do with how the reaction begins when the "bullet" reaches the "target. If you shoot the cylinder at a hollow target, the bomb tends to blow itself apart before the cylinder can get all the way inside,...

It's funny you bring up the Lewis gun, because Lewis was so frustrated with the US army that left for Belgium and eventually started production in England. A perfect example for the point I'm trying to make: The US army hates great LMGs.

US Army procurement has a history of focusing on accuracy on the firing range over all other metrics when making decisions, in no small part because it's the easiest thing to objectively measure.

Is the big hole ever actually used in doctrine? From what I understand based on that arfcom thread with one of the guys from the committee it was intended to be used with the A1 tritium front sight night sight, but the night sights were never issued en mass. it also seems odd that the A1 had a night sight option and some contemporary foreign rifles like the galil and famas have night sights and so much of the falklands war and desert storm had night fighting that they never issued night sights for the A2. granted, this of course gets mooted the second illuminated optics get issued en mass

Typhoon Jet Sale to Turkey
So did Turkey get ripped off having to buy 20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets from Britain for $10.7 billion?

These 20 jets are the latest versions and with the missiles included in the package, the Turkish sides will also carry long-range, high-precision weapons just like their Greek counterparts. This could make mock dogfights almost obsolete in the Aegean sea.

How much can you accomplish with simply utilizing 21st century metallurgy?
Can you do anything significant with the form with modern testing and simulations?
How much better do you think you can make equipment than contemporaries of the target period?
tl;dr how much better could you make late medieval equipment in the modern day assuming performance and not appearing magical or divine were the goals.

Stop fucking shooting out of the interior window. I don't care if you're shooting straight up, that shit comes back down eventually and I'm tired of finding lead in my laundry. Don't make me come down there again.

Id recommend a juiced up HERF gun if you can swing it. There's some power cores for sale in the 230 bazaar, they tend to burn out pretty quick, but the output is good enough for a few serious blasts. It'll wreck the dolls electronic components, but won't do anything to the hydraulics or s...

The fact that its literally a discount Honor Guard uniform kind of makes it feel dull

I'd assume these guys are new recruits, which is why they're wearing sneakers? In my country, we wore sneakers for the first two weeks of training to get our feet used to marching and running all day.

All you need is a 1/4" dowel and two soda cans, to make a fully auto 9mm. Get on my level.
>>64470990
>That's not even close to the same thing as printing pressure-bearing components like a sabot out of PLA
People have 3d printed 9mm PLA bullets and they shoot out. The issue is that they're so light and easy to push out that you don't get sufficient powder burn.
Pressure-bearing somewhat ...

Reality is that if your gun is getting beat up by spec .40 to the point that you'reconstantly performing maintenance on it, you simply have a shit gun.
>>64474999
Makes sense, assuming HK didn't half-arse the conversion it should just be a famously reliable, easy to handle and all around nice SMG in a cartridge with significantly more power behind it when you need to put someone down.
I'm curious how the .40 model compared.

Quiet Supersonics
>Key Points and Summary – NASA and Lockheed’s X-59 just flew, proving “quiet supersonic” can replace the sonic boom with a “gentle thump.”

>Designed to cruise at Mach 1.4 and 55,000 feet, the X-59 will gather community noise data to help set new overland rules—opening the door to two-hour DC–LA flights

https://nationalsecurityjournal.org/the-mach-1-4-x-59-could-create-military-nightmares-for-russia-and-china/

For aerospace needs this has long been a project of interest because it means supersonics travel can be viable. Military applications are all kinds of useful though. So who here enjoying the sweet smell of Skunkworks?

Just Faraday bag the fly by wire control system
Just do the same for the cockpit
Just don't get hit
