something like 2-3 previous editors of the New England Journal of Medicine have had nothing but scathing things to say about the absolute state of medical research in particular because pharma companies just pay for anything resembling something they can package and market and ignore everything else
most scientific institutions in general act like questioning obvious bullshit = attacking the scientific method itself, when the entire reason they receive criticism is because they were running their study or program with an obvious bias from the start
but that's just one part of a far wider systemic issue
the perversion of academia and language has been absolutely catastrophic - people just build up whatever the fuck they want around their opinion and call it the truth because there's so much junk information out there to support it now
