CCAs going well
Yesterday Boeing Australia conducted their first public demonstrations with their MQ-28A 'Ghost Bat' in Woomera, with general testing 4 months ahead of schedule. This follows General Dynamic's YFQ-42A first flight test in San Diego last week. Now all is left is for Anduril's YFQ-44A to make its first flight.

While all three aircraft are UCAVs, the YFQ-42A and YFQ-44A fill the roles of offensive CCA due to their already functional internal weapons bays able to house at least two AMRAAMs and larger control surfaces, while the MQ-28A is to fill the role of ISR/EW with internal bays coming later.

At the same time today, the USN has announced a contract competition for naval UCAVs with General Atomics, Boeing, Anduril and Northrop Grumman. Lockeed Martin is to develop the avionics and control systems for the winning prototypes.

Why? Believe it or not, Boeing is a pioneer in UCAV flight software. Their software for the X-45A program was top notch. The gubmint forced Boeing to share their code AND made their software engineers work with the NG team that lead to the X-47 carrier based UCAV.
>>64239196
That's exactly why, whoever will be working on the controls will have access to old telemetry data and software regardless.

Gym Gun Fanny Pack Self Defense
Less than a month ago, I had some coked out or methed out narcissistic freak at the gym push me and try to start a fight with me because I apparently got in his space. He was doing some bullshit martial arts striking in front of the mirror. I knew he was drugged out a while before he assaulted me. He was following me around the gym afterwards, so I called the police on him. They police didn't even review the footage, and I still have to physically go to the police station downtown to actually get them to do something.

This taught me a few things. One: I NEED to learn martial arts. I don't believe this freak was doing real martial arts because it's not a martial arts gym, and he really did look like he was on coke or meth. Two: I NEED to carry something for self defense to the gym. And three: When going to a gym other than the YMCA, I need to pay constant attention to those around me. I need to be extra careful to keep my distance and not bump into any of them. I can't even make eye contact with anyone, unless possibly a white or Asian woman, because some of those guys are sociopathic and narcissistic freaks, and I want to avoid trouble. I don't want to needlessly antagonize anybody at the gym.

I already bought some pepper spray, and it's apparently one of the best brands (POM). Pepper spray expires, so I need to keep that in mind. I also need to remember to regularly practice using it. I bought 3 canisters.

Illegally bringing a gun to a gym is a misdemeanor in my state (Tennessee), but it's the highest level of misdemeanor. I had an anon on here a few years ago tell me that in Tennessee, if a gun is used in such a place, they can't charge you with that misdemeanor, but I haven't found such a law, so I'm uncertain.

What about bringing a gun in a fanny pack? Are there any fanny packs that would allow me quick access?

You mentioned that in TN it's a misdemeanor. Check the signage on the front door of the gym, if it says no weapons but does not reference TN state code, and the letters are not at least 1in tall, then you can just ignore it, per TN code.

Full body soft armor
From what I can see in the Yookraine-Rasha war most soldiers die from light drones, artillery and hand grenades, with gunfire causing a much smaller percentage of casualties. So why are soldiers not being equipped with full body soft armor? From my understanding, flakjackets like picrel are quite effective at stopping shrapnel while being very light. You could still equip soldiers with ceramic plates that cover their torso for when they do get into CQC

"Very light" is relative, but they DO make IIIA soft armor sets that will cover your entire torso, groin, thighs, biceps, etc. The thing is, ounces equal pounds and all that shit adds up, limits mobility, and traps alot of body heat, which isn't ideal if you're running from cover to cover...

How would /k/ defeat an ancient and powerful vampire?

Assumptions:
>standard vampire vulnerabilities
weakness to sunlight, garlic, and silver, mortally wounded by a stake to the heart, etc.
>conventional defenses
as an ancient, supernaturally cunning and charismatic being, the vampire may be highly placed in society or have significant resources at its disposal (money to hire private security, land, legal protection, criminal ties, etc), complicating your efforts to defeat it.
>location
Occupying a large residence on its own plot of land in your city.
>time limit
In 72 hours the vampire (and possibly its thralls/hired goons) will track you down and try to feed on you.

What's your loadout? What's your plan to gather intel, conduct recon, get armed, and make the kill?
Bonus points: you may only use resources you have at your disposal at this moment in your planning.

why should I go to it? it's in a heavily fortified location with multiple personnel present. this is tactically unsound. wait the 72 hours, stand in a wide open location with no cover or buildings, and if they try to wait for night time, just go home for the night and don't answer the door.

Venezuela won't be another Vietnam
It will be another Iraq

militarily speaking venezuela doesn't have the things that made Vietnam & other similar conflicts fail.

Why do you think Vietnam managed to repell an invasion by America, China and defeat pol pot?
Because of Soviet support

Why do you think the Soviets couldn't defeat the mujahideen?
Because of Saudi and CIA support

Venezuela(maduro) has support from no one, except maybe Cuba and Nicaragua
Russia already has logistical problems in Ukraine to the point that they need help from North Korea...

And China wouldn't want to engage in a proxy war with their biggest trading partner just to support a highly unpopular dictator,
and even if they did they would have to cross thru panama or the southern tip of south america, and i doubt that Chile & Argentina would allow military ships to pass through to support a regime that they openly oppose

And even if they make it to the caribbean by the time they get there the whole place would be filled to the brim with warships

>but what if they go thru Brazil?
they would have to cross southeast asia
And even if they get thru it's unrealistic to think that Brazil would want to get involved in a war right at their doorstep on behalf of maduro (Lula blocked Venezuela from joining BRICS, to give you an idea)

So yeah, militarily speaking, they would probably be pushed out of major cities and into the jungle, where they would probably try to wage a guerrilla war, while having to fight the many drug cartels there probably.

The shock wave was felt as far away as the Dikson settlement located 430 miles away, and windows shattered at a distance of 560 miles. Windows even shattered as far away as Norway and Finland due to atmospheric focusing of the shock wave. Despite being an air burst detonated 13,000 feet above ground, Tsar Bomba’s seismic magnitude was estimated at 5–5.25. Seismic sensors continued to register shockwaves even after a third revolution around the Earth.

Instead of some gay emplacement test they drop it out of a bomber as a fully weaponized build. Gotta like that. They gave the bomber crew an ifty-50 chance of surviving.

Countering Laser Based Point Defense Systems
I've not really seen this discussed before, and it seems like it might be an interesting topic. With the advent of laser weapons/directed energy weapons (DEWs) entering service around the world over the next few years, primarily in point defense applications, it seems inevitable that there will be both technical and tactical development in the area of trying to harden munitions, drones, aircraft, etc. against DEW interception.

How would you harden drones, missiles, aircraft, etc. against these big boi lasers?
Do you make everything shiny and chrome and hope to reflect enough of the energy?
Ablative heat shields that last long enough to let your munition hit the target?
Lasers of your own to fuck their targeting systems in return?

/FART/ - FRT general
Oldschool edition

A bunch of slide threads pushed the last one off the catalog. Also, I have a question to start with, what prevents an FRT from causing an out of battery discharge? Is having the reset disengage at the end of bolt travel the only way, or is it possible for it to disengage before the bolt is all the way forward without causing an out of battery?

Is it legal? Yes! Unless you live in a cuck state.

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>like an FRT, but a different mechanism (the safety)
>cheaper than an FRT
>$90-$120 for full drop-in kit
>3D printable or CNC (recommend stainless/4140)
>most are 3 position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is fully semi-automic
>Atrius now shipping the only super safety that operates like a normal AR safety selector

How it works:
https://youtu.be/KIxsnh2fFTo [Embed] [Embed]

To make an AR-15 super safe you'll need:
>M16 style/"full auto" bolt carrier group
>H3 or H2 buffer weight (will do 600-750 rpm of 5.56)
>"low shelf" lower receiver
>SS
>any AR trigger so long as you give it an SS cut

What is the viability of the super safety in a combat setting, specifically urban combat? I slapped one in my AR, and, not to be that guy, but it seems just as good as full auto without the downsides of either spending thousands or breaking the law. I found it almost indistinguishable from the real thing. They even have a selector version sold by performance triggers now rather than the cross bolt safety. Is this leveling the playing field for civilians to have the same fire power as military and law enforcement legally? Is there any downsides to this?
>Inb4 muh lever breakage
This only happens when you are a retard and either A. Use a 3d printed one like a dumb ass, or B. Get one with a shit build quality from a non reputable company. If you get a quality steel version from a reputable company, this will not happen.
