They are just justifiably confused about the sudden 180-degree turn in the narrative, but Dev lashes out at them like a mangy, rabid mutt. Also, his FAQ is priceless:

Before this recent update, the game featured boring, repetitive combat, decent writing, and very unique ideas that bizarrely blended horror and eroticism, along with captivating character interactions. Now, however, it feels like a broken amalgamation of narratives that clash and contradict each other, because the Dev didn't fully commit to removing the elements he finds problematic, or something, I honestly can't follow his broken train of thoughts.
