you fucking bet your ass it does - the transgender judges (tournament authorities that can basically determine the fate of any game on a whim, emotionally or logically) more or less exist as a nobility class at major tournaments wherein they're both untouchable from consequence and also the judge+jury&executioner
the whole thing is an unspoken nightmare and i've been waiting for someone to do some sort of whistleblower documentary about it for years, but everyone's hands are tied or their grip on exposure is too tight to let anything happen due to nintendo's overshadowing of it
